Stephen Feber is a 62-year-old ElliptiGO rider based in Wilmslow, Cheshire.

Stephen has been a distance runner since October 1977 (pre-London Marathon!) and holds an England Athletics Competition Licence as a member of Wilmslow Running Club. To cross-train, he uses an ElliptiGO 8C bike and a rowing machine.  When not interrupted by travel he trains with the running club on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays (and often does the local parkrun on Saturday mornings).

Stephen bought  the ElliptiGO after a knee operation when he’d wanted to keep reasonably fit – but not run. He told us:

“I actually use the ElliptiGO in place of a bicycle and I use it to go shopping on, for short trips, and as an alternate training aid between running training days. I don’t do ‘marathon distances’ on it (usually riding 6-10 miles at a time) and my total running training mileage is probably 30 to 35 miles a week – in addition to the ElliptiGO rides. It’s been fantastic. I’ve had more conversations with people using it in six months, than in 20 years of using an ordinary bicycle.”

Stephen has been running for longer than most people and he fully understands how important it is to protect his joints and preserve his body, so that he can continue to enjoy his running and remain in peak fitness – without wearing his joints out. We love his story because it illustrates what we think is the common culture that runs through most ElliptiGO owners we meet – the will to stand out from the crowd, the will to set higher standards, the will to defy the odds, and the will to keep on GOing…
